About Us

Peace Promise addresses the complexities of sex trafficking in the Harrisburg region by offering outreach & intervention, support & training, education & awareness, and economic empowerment for those who have experienced the weight of sexual exploitation. We partner with survivors in their healing process to provide for practical needs like housing and employment while also addressing emotional support and life skills training to equip survivors to thrive in their journey to freedom.

We partner with area organizations, law enforcement agencies, mental healthcare professionals, in addition to a dedicated community of volunteers, financial partners, and our trained and trauma-informed staff to ensure holistic care of our survivors.

Our Mission

Outreach & Intervention

Building Relationships, Changing Lives.

One of the biggest obstacles to supporting victims of trafficking is gaining trust and building relationships. Our team works in partnership with community partners and local organizations where exploited women may frequent to build valuable connections. Our trained team brings the relationship-building skills needed to not only identify, but also, earn the trust of survivors that may otherwise be overlooked by society so we can offer them the pathway to freedom from exploitation. We help to care for immediate needs while also helping them work towards sustainable solutions for freedom.

Forever Support and Unconditional Love

We help survivors create a life of financial independence and personal well-being by offering support designed to address vulnerabilities and build strength in the areas of education, interpersonal communication and conflict resolution, and life skills. We do this through programs like the Enhanced Employment Plan and our survivor support groups. Our goal is to surround them with the love and support that many of them have had to live without and to ensure that our survivors are equipped with the tools that they need to flourish.

Education & Awareness

Educate. Inform. Change.

Some of the most essential work that we do is educating others about the realities of trafficking, something that is often misrepresented in the media. As a result, exploitation often exists in plain sight and goes undetected, even by those experiencing it. We share our personal knowledge from working with survivors since 2008 and updated research on the larger problem with healthcare professionals, churches, groups, schools, and other community partners.

Economic Empowerment

Breaking the Chains

Finding and sustaining gainful employment is one of the most exploitable vulnerabilities our women experience. Many of the women whom we serve experience barriers to employment like criminal records, little to no job skills or resume, educational limitations, trauma, addiction, and even basic requirements to employment like transportation. Lack of employment opportunities that consider and make adjustments for their backgrounds is the largest contributing factor to why many women never escape.

Providing economic empowerment that supports their recovery and healing process turns vulnerability into empowered, sustainable living. In partnership with our sister companies, Good Ground Coffee Company and Soaps by Survivors and in partnership with other generous area organizations, Peace Promise offers survivors an opportunity to learn job and life skills training side by side with their employment to ensure that these barriers never stand in the way of our survivors’ journey to freedom.
